Finishing with Livos Kunos or Kunos Countertop Oil Process

  1. Fine sand and dust off, then apply a liberal coat of Kunos without waste. Leave on the surface for 15 minutes then polish of the excess with two clean rags. Spread the oily rags out to dry to avoid spontaneous combustion.

  2. On the next day recoat and wipe off.

  3. On the third day, rub back the surface with oooo steel wool or a scouring pad, dust off and recoat with Kunos. Again wipe of excess after 15 minutes.

  4. On the fourth day only rub back if you think necessary, dust off then apply the last coat. Make sure you polish off all excess oil within about 15 minutes.

For rejuvenating

When the furniture gets hungry looking or dirty, they can be brightened up with Orange Oil, but if it gets scratched and needs more than Orange Oil you can use Livos Kunos which is what I use on most of my furniture.

  1. Use oooo steel wool (available from some paint shops. It is very fine) and rub back with the grain to remove unwanted marks.
  2. Saturate a cloth in Kunos and wipe all over the surface
  3. Using clean rags, wipe off excess that has not soaked in within a 15 minutes. It dries quicker when it is hot. If ever it gets too sticky to wipe off simply wet the surface with more Kunos and wipe it straight off.
  4. Recoat after 24 hours if you think it needs it.

Finishing with Feast Watson’s Floor Seal

Tables and benches are finished with 6 coats of Floor Seal hand rubbed on and off. When they are fully dry and hard the surface can be wiped over with a damp cloth or Orange Oil.

Process

  1. 1 Fine sand up to 400 grit or use oooo steel wool if you are rejuvenating a surface, rub the tops back with the grain to remove unwanted marks.
  2. Saturate a cloth in Floor Seal and wipe all over the surface
  3. Using clean rags, wipe off excess Floor Seal within a few minutes. It dries very quickly especially when it is hot.
  4. Recoat after 3 hours. That is two coats per day if you want.
  5. Use oooo steel wool to rub back the surface before you recoat.
  6. You can also apply Mirotone Mira Wax with steel wool while the oil is wet on the last coat. Rub on the oil followed by the wax straight away on a big pad of oooo steel wool. This makes it easy to wipe the last coat off.

If the finish gets too tacky when you are trying to wipe it off you can simply rewet the surface with the oily rag. Only buy the Oil in one litre tins as it goes off in the can when it is half used.

Have fun Neil...
